For almost ten years Kai Tipping has shared the power of percussion and rhythm, which he believes, can invigorate and unify the community. He comes from a family immersed in the creative arts and devoted to community transformation and inclusiveness.

Kai currently lives in Melbourne where he runs regular drum classes for all age groups that cover percussion styles from Brazil to Ghana. He also facilitates ‘Recycled Music’ workshops that involve participants’ constructing and performing on instruments made from recycled materials.

Over the years, Kai has worked extensively in the community and has engaged a diverse range of people in the power of music. This has taken various shapes; including designing and implementing music courses in disadvantaged schools, adult education workshops and early childhood education ‘Bam Bam’ classes.

He is a seasoned performer and group leader who can get everyone on their feet having an awesome time. He is energetic, adventurous and an inspired change agent. Kai has performed at major Australian festivals and venues, such as Woodford Folk Festival, WoMad World Music Festival, Bellingen Folk Festival, Canberra National Folk Festival, Cockatoo Island Festival, Peats Ridge Folk Festival and The Basement. He also initiated and directed the annual Percussionale Festival in Newcastle, which showcased local and international percussion talents.
